Prepare the ship’s library ashore
Approved documents become a versioned knowledge pack. Procedure steps, tables and surrounding context stay together, and onboard answers draw only from that pack.
Find the relevant, authoritative passage
Search considers meaning and exact wording. The vessel’s safety management system takes priority, followed by fleet procedures, regulations and reference material. Mandatory procedures are returned in full and in order.
Answer only what the documents support
References are checked against their passages, with a separate check that the evidence is sufficient. High, Medium or Low confidence comes with a reason; missing support leads to a clear “not covered”.
Work at sea and update in port
Questions are answered locally on vessel hardware. Updated knowledge packs are checked when loaded; sharing with the office follows the operator’s rules, and personal crew details are excluded from the question log.
