Lubricant Analysis

An integrated lubricant management system.

What began as a brief to draft sample commentary became Viscorai™, a connected lubricant management system. Sampling, laboratory interpretation, technical support, maintenance and commercial follow-up share one record from the sample to the action it generates.

Who this helps

Reliability engineers, lubricant suppliers, oil-analysis laboratories and technical-service teams.

The operating problem

Why the work matters.

Used oil analysis is increasingly central to condition-based maintenance, while experienced analysts are retiring and commentary varies between specialists. Separate sample, laboratory and customer records make it difficult to turn an interpretation into timely action.

Propel’s contribution

What we developed.

Drawing on first-hand experience as oil-analysis end users, Propel expanded a commentary task into a complete lubricant service. The system connects the data, engineering rules, cited AI answers, oversight and apps needed by field staff, laboratories, customers and supplier teams.

How it works

Follow the operational thread.

Connect the information, apply the relevant checks and make the next decision visible.

01

Connect the sample and its journey

QR-enabled mobile capture ties each sample to its equipment and sampling point, with notes, photos and courier history. A laboratory-receipt scan can trigger pre-agreed charges, with the sample record as proof.

02

Interpret with evidence and oversight

Engineering rules assess readings, limits and trends. AI drafts commentary with sources and confidence scores. Suppliers choose autonomous issue, review by exception or full supervision to suit the service.

03

Close the loop with the customer

Technical answers cite a verified library by document, section and page. Specialist corrections are peer-reviewed; recurring adverse results can become cases, and accepted reports can feed maintenance work orders.

04

Connect technical service and follow-up

Sampling coverage, recurring issues and customer history identify service needs and relevant commercial opportunities. Commercial rules read the technical findings without changing the diagnosis.

The user experience

Different roles.
The same evidence.

Dashboards, timelines and work queues make the relevant information available before someone has to ask a question.

Field and logistics

Equipment, sampling points, overdue samples and kit status.

Engineering and customers

Equipment trends, cited commentary, technical answers and owned cases.

Supplier and service teams

Fleet and lubricant insight, anonymised benchmarking and unresolved service needs.

Our glass-box approach

What the user can inspect

  • Measurements, units, methods and equipment history
  • Applied engineering rules and cited technical guidance
  • Oversight setting, review history and the follow-up action
The intended value

What this is designed
to improve.

  • Earlier intervention and lubricant changes based on equipment condition
  • Faster, consistent commentary and referenced technical answers
  • Specialists freed for difficult cases and services such as system flushing
  • Fleet and lubricant benchmarking to support service and product improvement
  • Less billing administration through charges tied to laboratory receipt
  • A permanent sample and decision history for customer care, audits and warranty support
How to evaluate it

Evaluate the complete sample-to-action workflow: handling and review time, citation quality, sampling coverage and completion of follow-up actions.

Viscorai™ is live and commercially available. The customer is anonymised.
